Chris Clever, President of Clever Construction, Inc. has been involved with the construction industry for just about all of his life. His father was an architect out of San Francisco, and although Chris has Bay area roots, he truly is a local talent. He graduated from the Carpenters Apprenticeship Program right here in Hawaii, received his Journeyman's Certificate in Carpentry and immediately began working on several major Maui projects. Concrete, framing, finish, layout - he got involved with it all, working on large subdivisions, hotels, condominiums - both commercial and residential projects - refining his trade and growing in the skills and knowledge that would ultimately make him one of Hawaii's outstanding residential builders.
Over 30 Years of Leadership
Clever Construction, which was founded in 1979, has always placed a primary emphasis on residential construction, although its capabilities and experience have included several light commercial projects, such as the sales office at the Hapuna Prince Hotel and work on the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel. Throughout the past two decades, Clever's success has been evidenced by a steady upward rate of growth and increased industry recognition.

For the past three decades, Clever Construction has been creating upscale homes priced at the multi-million dollar level. Clever has excellent creative and support systems under its own roof; a construction layout division, for example, with state-of-the-art survey equipment, so clients do not have to wait for a surveyor to lay out the job. In-house project management and supervisory staffs have extensive experience in working as a team, as do Clever's subcontractors, suppliers and trade personnel. In addition, Clever Construction is licensed in general building and holds specialty licenses in excavation, concrete and swimming pools.
